What is NFC

NFC stands for ‘Near Field Communication’ and is a short range radio frequency communication technology in contrast to the far field communication RFID (Radio Frequency Identification). The communication distance of NFC devices is within 4 cm which is sufficient to provide a high degree of security in message transmission.

All the CertEasy NFC tags validated by NF Systems are embedded with the NTAG203 NFC IC, which is developed by NXP Semiconductors and is currently the most popular IC being used for NFC tag application. The NTAG203 IC provides full compliance to the NFC Forum Tag 2 type technical specification and enables NDEF (NFC Data Exchange Format) data structure configurations. It features anti-cloning support by the global unique 7-byte serial number and 32-bit definable One-Time Programmable (OTP) area for each NFC chip. The stored data is protected and cannot be removed or modified.

Security Feature

·         Manufacturer programmed 7-byte UID for each device

·         Pre-programmed Capability container with one time programmable bits

·         Field programmable read-only locking function

·         ECC based originality signature

·         32-bit password protection to prevent unauthorized memory operations

The CertEasy App is incorporated with high security encryption key and password protection for communication with the CertEasy tag. Only the registered CertEasy tag can be authenticated. Other non-registered NFC tags, even with the same NFC compliant IC, are not admitted.

CertEasy is a registered smart phone application tool that authenticates NFC tags and encrypted QR code validated by NFS. Smart phones with the built-in NFC technology are able to download this app on the Google Play Store or iOS App store free of charge.

What is encrypted QR code?

CertEasy Lite is a mobile App for scanning a QR Code generated by a special program which can only read by this App and provides a meaningful image. Otherwise, it can only be displayed in some meaningless numbers.
